LKI 44th Press Statement

Sir:

This email confirms the Laban Konsyumer Inc.  media statement aired on TV Patrol last August 13 on the matter of the fines imposed  by the Supreme Court against Manila Water and Maynilad on their violation of the Clean Water Act.

1. That the fines should not be passed on to the consumers  now or in the next rebasing period. Fines are punitive and are the personal account  of the concessionaires. 

2. That we formalizes our request that the payment of the environmental charge or fee that goes to sewerage should be temporarily withdrawn  or suspended considering  that the services for which the fees are being paid are not delivered on time  to the consumers.  In other words ” no pay for no work ” . 

3. That a public consultation be held by the MWSS for the purpose of Item 2 above and to fix the amount of rollback on the environmental charges.
